Product Description:
AKW Luda pressure relief device/ball (PRD).
A pressure relief device (PRD) is a safety device in electric showers. If water is unable to exit through the shower head, an excess of pressure can build, which in time will damage components of the shower. The PRD will blow allowing this pressure to escape, preventing damage to the heater can assembly and other components.
When a pressure relief device blows, it is usually a sign of another underlying problem, such as a blocked head or hose. Once one has failed, the shower is likely to face the same problems later down the line.
This particular pressure relief device will blow when the pressure approaches or exceeds 10 bar.
