Cookies are small text files created by web browsers when you visit and interact with websites that are then saved onto your computer locally. This is standard practice for all websites. Cookies are unique to each web browser you use and also to each site that you visit.
Cookies cannot be used to harm your computer through viruses or malware.
The National Shower Spares site (www.showerspares.com, "this site") utilises cookies, such as to maintain your user session and remember temporary settings that you select. No data collected/stored via cookies with us is used for marketing purposes on this or any other site we interact with.
To allow you to carry information across pages of our site and avoid having to re-enter information, we use session cookies. These are cookies that are only valid for a certain amount of time, after which they expire and are deleted by your web browser and us. For example, when you register an Account with us, session cookies are used when you log in to allow you to view all pages on this site signed in to your Account. Cookies are also used to tell your web browser to remember what items are in your shopping basket and to display search results. Your session is terminated (the cookies are deleted) when you leave our site or when you close your web browser. Cookies that relate to your Account are deleted when you log out, when you close your browser, or after a certain amount of time of inactivity — this tells your web browser not to remember that you are signed in anymore.
Some tracking cookies are used on this site for us to gather statistics on the most frequently visited pages and where people visit from, etc. We use these occasional tracking cookies to better understand our customer's experience on our site and to try to improve it. This feature is provided by Google Analytics. While it tracks the pages you view, it does NOT collect any personally-identifiable information about you. The majority of information collected by Google Analytics includes:
- the pages you view and how many times you view them;
- your computer's IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.1);
- the name and version of the web browser you are using (e.g. Mozilla Firefox 49, Google Chrome 53, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer 11, Opera 40, or Safari 10);
- the version of your computer's operating system (e.g. Windows 10, Mac OS X, Linux, iOS 10, or Android);
- your computer's screen size (resolution);
- the country you are in (your exact address is NOT known);
- the website you visited immediately prior to using our site (if any).
None of this information can be used to accurately identify or distinguish you from anyone else. The vast majority of websites automatically collect this type of data too, either through tracking cookies or other techniques.
You can block ("opt-out" of) cookies from being saved on your computer by your web browser if you wish. All modern browsers have this feature built-in to them for you to use (cookies are generally allowed by default). However, blocking cookies may have an adverse effect on the usability of this site because functions such as remembering search results, storing items in your shopping basket, and whether you are signed in to your Account may not work correctly or at all. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have a facility on our site for you to explicitly decline cookie usage from us, but you can still block cookies as a whole while you visit our site through your web browser's settings.
